Ode on solitude  Solitude may be a very positive and constructive experience, whenever it is a desirable choice of the way of life or otherwise it may be a distressing expe rience, inducing negative feelings, whenever it is externally imposed. In order to understand the poly- morphic influence of the solitude upon the inner life of the soul it is essential to analyze all the causative factors of solitude and the personality's profile of the person who lives in solitude. For the majonty of human beings the solitude is a painful experience, inducing sadness, anxiety and fear, though for others is a chance for spiritual elevation, self-knowledge, interior peace and serenity, happiness becoming also a way to the truth. The imposed solitude or iso- lation is always a painful condition inducing many psychological reactions. Ode on solitude   "Ode on Solitude" is a poem by Alexander Pope, written when he was twelve years old. and widely included in anthologies. The title of this poem was also used by other poets. such as Joseph Warton. To be in a state of solitude means that one has withdrawn from the world and has taken up a life of seclusion. This could be for various reasons, as one may have been born this way, one may have lost care for the world's troubles, or one may just want to have a quieter life. This is exemplified in Alexander Pope's poem, "Ode on Solitude." This poem talks about how a life of isolation is still a happy and quiet life, and to maintain this peace, one must not only remain out of the world, but also remain so secluded that others cannot pester with the world's problems.
